The CrossCare project stimulates, supports, and accelerates innovations in healthcare. CrossCare contributes to the development and implementation of healthcare innovations (products, services, concepts) by providing a healthcare living lab environment and offering a fund to support innovation projects. CrossCare provides an accessible pathway to scaling up healthcare innovation. It is a cross-border project under Interreg Vlaanderen-Nederland and offers both practical and financial support. With eight healthcare living labs in Flanders and the Netherlands, healthcare innovations can be tested and further developed by end users.
During the first successful CrossCare project (2016-2021), Flemish and Dutch healthcare living labs supported 30 healthcare innovations. On Wednesday, May 17, 2023, INTERREG Vlaanderen-Nederland approved the successor project, CrossCare 2.0. Over the next three years, CrossCare 2.0 will continue along the same path, once again facilitating the development and implementation of innovations in the healthcare and welfare sector.
On the one hand, companies and healthcare organizations developing innovations can receive financial support from the CrossCare innovation fund, with grants of up to €100,000 per organization. On the other hand, healthcare living labs on both sides of the border support selected companies and healthcare organizations by demonstrating, testing, and evaluating innovations with end users. These healthcare living labs are experts in co-creation and live testing with healthcare users and professionals in their real-life environments. They make this expertise available free of charge within the project.
Within the CrossCare 2.0 project, Brainphonics is implementing and validating an objective hearing test for older adults who could benefit from early and accurate hearing diagnostics. This innovation provides clinical added value by evaluating hearing objectively, without requiring active participation. This is particularly essential for older adults with limited communication abilities. Thanks to CrossCare, Brainphonics can test this technology in Flemish and Dutch healthcare settings, assessing its clinical effectiveness and applicability for a new target group. This contributes to better and more accessible hearing care for vulnerable older adults.
Brainphonics is supported by the Flemish living lab Health-e-Novation and the Dutch living labs Care Innovation Center.
